Pros: comfortable for a few days

Cons: blurred vision, tear easily, protein deposit

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 2 Years, 7 days/week, 12 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Renu

Replaces contacts every: 1 Month

I don't like these contacts at all. After only a few days I get blurred vision due to protein deposits. I used to wear Acuvue 2 but my doc wanted me to try these new advance ones. I tried changing solutions, rubbing them more in hope to clean them better but nothing helped. I even bought enzyme removal tablets which didn't help either. For five years I used Freshlook colorblends and then switched to Acuvue 2 which I liked a lot for their comfort.

I was an Acuvue wearer who was told I should switch to Acuvue Advance as they were better for the eyes. I never had problems with the plain old Acuvues and loved them, so I did not forsee any problems. I had nothing but with Acuvue Advance. I was never able to wear them all day. They always felt dry and uncomfortable. I suffered through a year of wearing them. At my next eye exam, I switched to Acuvue 2, and have been happy ever since. I had nothing but problems with the Advance and would never recommend them to anyone.

These contacts are not worth the expense. They are uncomfortable and tear extremly easily, and they shift around and won't stay put. They are a pain to insert and they flop all around on your finger. I really don't like these at all. I would not recommend them.

They fold over on most attempts and when in irritate my eye. My Dr said these where the most popular and best contacts on the market. Ya, now I have to pay for another fitting to try a different lens, what a scam.

THESE CONTACTS ARE HORRIBLE COMPARED TO THE ACUVUE 2S. THEY ARE HARD TO APPLY, AND WITHIN ABOUT 2-3 DAYS MAKE MY VISION BLURRY AND WILL SOMETIMES CAUSE MY EYES TO WATER MORE THAN USUAL. DO NOT WASTE THE EXTRA MONEY.

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 5 Years, 7 days/week, 10 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: generic

I have been wearing contacts for 18 years. This is my first tiem using this contact. I have had eye issues for the 5 months I've been using them. They are flimsy and do not keep their shape. I have eye goop, discharge and constant tearing with this contact. I thought these symptoms were due to eye rubbing, dirty hands, germs, etc but for the last 2 months I have been a complete neat/clean freak and the same response. I change the contacts every month, I do not sleep in them and clean them before and after waering them. I have also cleaned my case all to no avial. This product is not good!

8/16/08 by Average: "Average, very"

Pros: Its feels fine and clear when you put them on in the morning

Cons: After a couple of hours, they tend to dry, redden the eyes

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 4 Years, 7 days/week, 14 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Renu

Replaces contacts every: 2 Months

They are very average lenses. I thought the hydraclear would make some significant difference, but they were the same as the Acuvue 2 or regular Acuvues. After a long day of wear, they would get stuck to my eyes, and become uncomfortably dry. My eyes were slightly red by the end of the day, every day. I am looking now for better contacts that reduce dryness and allow more oxygen flow.

Pros: Feel Good

Cons: Rip/Tear Easily

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 8 Months, 7 days/week, 14 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Wal-Mart Generic

I like how they feel when they're brand new, but they deteriorate too quickly. Sometimes I can't see anything wrong with them, but have to change because it hurts too much. Other times, the side rips or a peice is just missing. The middle will split also. They will sometimes last for 3 weeks, but rarely will they last the requisite 2.

Pros: comfortable at first

Cons: contact deteriorates

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 1 Year, 7 days/week, 10 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: multi purpose solution

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

Although these contacts are initially very comfortable, they deteriorate before their two week wear time is up. Every single one I have worn has gotten "nicks" in the edges within about one week of putting them in, causing irritation and great discomfort. At first I thought I must have been damaging them myself, even though I have been wearing contacts for 25 years and have never damaged one before. After about the third or fourth pair I knew it was not me. It starts out small and barely visible and then gets bigger, so at first I kept wearing them thinking it must have just been allergies. Now, I have to change them before I make it to one week so therefore I will be paying twice as much for them as I should have if I was able to change them every two weeks. Obviously, I will not be getting these again after I have used them all.

Cons: Became too itchy, toric didnt fit well

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 1 Month, 5 days/week, 12 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: generic solution

My optometrist attempted to fit me for toric lenses, and recommended acuvue advance because she said they had a great toric lens. I got a trial pair, and ended up leaving with spherical lenses because the toric didnt rotate correctly (i have a funky axis on my eye). By the end of the week, i found them itchy and uncomfortable during by the end of the day. I switched to Silicone hydrogel and they felt MUCH better (and the dr. said they were more healthy for my eyes).

I've worn soft contacts for almost 20 years. My optometrist strongly recommended these lenses, so I tried them. This is the worst experience I've ever had with contacts! Only a couple of hours after I put them in, it feels like an eyelash is behind the lens. My vision gets blurry, my eyes water and get dry, and the lenses pop out with no warning. The lenses rip easily - when I picked them out of the lens basket and when I was wearing them! They don't last anywhere near the two weeks the box says. More like 2-7 days. I can see mucous-y protein deposits on them by this time.

I found these lenses hard to keep clean, even with enzyme soaking and using specialized cleaners, I only get a week max out of them. After using Acuvue 2 for about 2 years, I decided to try Acuvue Advance, and I haven't gone back since! I love how these contacts are so comfortable, even after wearing them for a long period of time. I wear my contacts for up to 14 hrs in a day and I don't even need to put eye drops in. There are times that they can become blurry, but one or two drops of rewetting drops will do the trick. They really are great and I would recommend this brand to anyone.

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 5 Years, 7 days/week, 13 hours/day

I have been wearing Acuvue lenses for many years and I had pain in my eyes. I complained it to my doctor but my doctor didn't think it has anything to do with the contact lenses and just didn't know what it was. My pain went away when I switched to Proclear but I still wasn't sure whether is was contact lenses related until I tried Acuvue Oasis during a new contact lense fitting. The pain came back! During the fitting period I tried several brands and I would always get eye strains and pain in my eyes when I wear Acuvue lenses so I concluded all Acuvue lenses are not suitable for me. Other than that, it seems to provide good vision. This fitting experience also taught me that you really have to try a lens and find out whether it works for you or not. Other people's experience may or may not apply to you so find a doctor who will let you try various brands for comparison. And then you judge for yourself.

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 0 Year, 7 days/week, 15 hours/day

I've worn contacts for about 15 years and never had a problem with any brand of lens. Upon my optometrists rigorous recommendation, I switched to Acuvue Advanced even though it was significantly more expensive. I've been utterly disappointed--there is no rhyme or reason to when my lenses have a crisp focus or when they go blurry. I assumed maybe it was just a bad fit, so I returned for a follow-up visit--nope, he said they fit perfectly. Hm, then I started reading all the complaints people have about blurred vision with the Advanced lenses--I'll never buy these again. When stored over night, I've noticed they tend to roll so that in the morning they have sharp creases at the midline of the lens; just yesterday, I had a tear in the corner of one of them after just one week of wear. Argh. I can't wait to finish the box and switch to a new brand so I can start seeing clearly again!

I used to fall asleep and dry me lenses and eyes. I used Focus and O2 Optix then but Advance really disappoint here. At first, I thought it were defective lenses, but the first 2 of the six lenses box were functioning normally. Afterward, they blur after the first time you soak them. Who want to buy monthly for single use?? The +ve reviewer are misleading, price is not a con for lenses if they WORK, too much negative reviews to be an exception.

I just switched to these lenses and I'm going through them so fast. I try to wait for 30 days, but sometimes I have to switch lenses after only 2 weeks because my vision is so badly blurred. They accumulate protein deposits which cause the blurred vision and they are uncomfortable after only a few days of wearing them, you can start to FEEL them in your eye. I used to change my disposables every 3 months (even though they were 2 week disposables) and I was never bothered by them. This brand however, you NEED to change them every 2-4 weeks or they become really uncomfortable. I'll be switching brands once I use up all the ones I purchased.

I have been wearing disposable contacts for 8 plus years now and have never had any problems until last year when I switched to Acuvue Advance. They are thin, they tear easily, they blur easily, and I ran out of contacts well before my year was up becuase they have to be changed so frequently. I will be switching back to Acuvue 2 which I had no problems with at all.

My first try with disposable. Going from vial lenses (CSI DW) to disposable, I struggled with the thinness of the disposable.. However, I save a lot of money not having to enzyme clean any more. I tried the Astigmatism ones for a 2 week trial and always felt like there was an eyelash under the contact or something. All in all, try them to see if they work for you. Obviously 1 brand doesn't fit all. They are not bad

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Too thin to handle, uncomfortable when first put in

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 3 Months, 7 days/week, 18 hours/day

These lenses are horrible. They are extremely thin compared to my previous lens, the SoftLens 66 from B&L. This makes them difficult to handle as they tend to roll up or turn themselves inside out in my hand before I can put them in. It takes me many time longer to put these in than other lenses. I also find I have a difficult time adapting to them each morning and find myself taking them back out, rewashing, and putting them back in again sometimes several times before I leave in the morning.

Pros: longer wear, and more comfortable.

Cons: Sometimes vision goes blur

I have been wearing these contacts for 2 years, and they're better than the other brands i tried before. Acuvue Advance with Hydroclear contacts are very soft, and they can be worn for a long time. I wear them for adverge 9 hours, and they stay comfortable. But sometimes they can get a bit blur, but few drops of eye-drops can make it go away. I say this is one of the best contacts you can wear for long comfort.

Pros: Extremely gentle "feel" if any sensation at all. Very moist.

Cons: Vision isn't as crisp as thinner lenses, but still good

Cleaning solution used: what's on sale

I have used contacts for over 20 years and these seem to be the most innovative in terms of moisture and comfort. Others I've tried have felt like dried plastic film after 10 - 12 hours of wear. These remain soft, even if slept in. The minor vision blurriness is a trade off for the comfort.

4/29/07 by Laura: "Uncomfortable Lenses with Excessive Movement"

Pros: Strong stigmatism correction

Cons: Uncomfortable, rotate out of alignment - blurry vision

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance: 1 Month, 7 days/week, 17 hours/day

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

O.D. wanted me to try these because my Acuvue Toric lenses "sat a little low" on my eye. Lenses looked like bowls, very deep and large, with a specific oreintation required to get vision correction. Wore lenses 17 hrs/day for 1 week and my eyes always felt tired and I had major problems with the lense rotating out of oreintation resulting in blurred vision. Went back to old Acuvue Toric lenses.

Cons: durability, cost

My first pair of trial lenses lasted me almost three weeks. After that I went through three pairs in as many weeks. After about a week in each case, one of the lenses wouldn't feel comfortable. It felt like something was in my eye. After inspecting the lens that was bothering me I noted that there was a small cut/piece of the lens missing on the side. My most recent pair lasted only a week, I inspected them but did not see anything, but they were hazy and they didn't feel good. I bought another box of them thinking also, as someone else mentioned, that I had a bad batch. Same thing happened. I gave them a good review because they enable me not to wear my glasses and I'm not sure that I can wear any another lenses. They feel great the first week or so. My eye doctor told me I could get a month out of them easily. I wish.

I have been wearing contacts for the past five years or so. Along the years I have tried diffrent brands of contact lenses. Some of them were fine while the others just yield problems. That's the reason that I have been changing lenses in the first place. a year ago when I first came across this J&J Advance contact lenses. Judging from the advertisement and technical information, I assume that this would be the dream lenses I have been looking for. But after a year of patient trial given to this brand of lenses, I have to give it a thumbs down for its under-average performance-it dries my eyes out very quickly, and it causes discomfort to my eyes too. The best lenses I have ever used is still Focus monthly visitint (by B&L? Ciba?).

Pros: Pretty box

Cons: The most uncomfortable lenses I've ever worn

I have worn different brand lenses in each eye for about 7 years, thanks to an innovative optomotrist that would rather correct vision using lens fit rather than cranking up the prescription. Thanks to my insurance, I now get to go to a "big box" chain who cares more about selling lenses than quality eye care. I wore Acuvue2 in my right eye and Focus in my left. Very comfortable, no change in prescrip. in 7 years. This year I was told that "big box" could no longer get the Focus, so I needed to change. The Acuvue advance were new, great, and just what I needed. I have been wearing the Advance for 3 weeks. I complained about them after my initial fitting, but they said it was probably just a bad pair. I've gone through 4 pairs in 3 weeks. They're uncomfortable, make my eyes itch and give me a headache. My mother was fed the same line from "big box" and had the same issues. The optician told her that they have been having issues with this particular lens because of the silicone. "Big box" wouldn't write me a script for my old lenses because THEY didn't carry them anymore -- not because they were no longer available. Now I need to pay another $65 for another prescription and they still won't write me a script for the old ones. These may be comfy for some, but if you're sensitive to silicone, they're absolute garbage.

I am going back to Acuvue 2. These feel like nothing there, but vision gets blurry off and on with these and make my eyes tired. Acuvue 2 seemed more crisp vision all the time.
