O2 Optix

O2 Optix image

Package: 6 contact lenses/ box

Type: 1-2 week disposable

Your eyes need oxygen to stay healthy and comfortable. But soft contact lenses create a barrier to the flow of oxygen between your eyes and the air around them. O2 OPTIX provides the highest oxygen transmissibility of any 2-week contact lens, helping to keep eyes whiter, brighter and healthy-looking. Without enough oxygen, you might feel symptoms such as end-of day discomfort, irritation, dryness, and redness. Also known as Corneal Oxygen Deficiency. In the long run, lack of oxygen may even cause complications. People who wear their contacts longer than the recommended wearing time are most at risk. O2 OPTIX is made with a revolutionary silicone hydrogel technology allowing 5 times more oxygen to reach the eye than the leading 2-week lens to help protect you from the signs and symptoms of Corneal Oxygen Deficiency.

Cons: Blurry, creates buildup

Has been wearing O2 Optix: 1 Year, 7 days/week, 16 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Clean Clear

Replaces contacts every: 1 Month

I have had these contacts for at least a year, when i wear the trial set given to me by my opt they are perfect, no issues except when they need to be cleaned. When i put a set in from one of the boxes I purchased, I have nothing but issues. My eyes blur up, there is a lot of protien build-up, the contact sticks to my eye lid and when i blink the contact lifts with my eye lid, I also can feel the edge of the contacts in my eyes and sometimes it feels like something is poking my eye. Even after I take the contacts out my eye continues to produce protein build-up. NO matter how often i clean them or put drops in my eyes the problems are still there for at least a few hours. I will be contacting my eye dr ONCE AGAIN to see about switching brands.

My old contacts would get dry as early as 6pm sometimes. These never dry out. It's probably bad for me, but I only take them out and replace them when my eyes feel tired, usually after more than a month of constant in-time. I'm not encouraging others to do that, but it proves how well these work on my eyes. Simply amazing.

Does anyone know of any lawsuits? Our Chicago attorney has been playing hardball with their New York attorneys whose very weak claim is that the FDA approved them. They even act like they know nothing of a recall. I have been to 2 opthalmologists and have not been able to wear contact lenses in over 2 years since my eyes were damaged. I am 20 years old, an athlete, and a highly competitive scholar. Some of these web postings are obviously monitored by Ciba as you can tell by their reviews. What are they so afraid of? That a group should rightfully sue them? Contact me at hakallal@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you.

I've worn contacts for about 13 years. For most of those years I struggled with contacts that were uncomfortable, and never fit well. This may have been due in part to my astigmatism. I had all but given up hope of ever being able to find contacts that truly seemed to disappear in my eye. But recently my eye doctor recommended I try these, citing they were some of the best contacts on the market today for those with astigmatism. She wasn't lying! It's amazing the change that has occurred with these lenses. No more rewetting drops throughout the day, no more constant blinking and messing with my contacts. When I put them in, they feel like there are no contacts in my eyes. I am so grateful that I have finally found these contact lenses!

My doctor seems to be a big believer in the Acuvue line. As a result, I've been suffering through one version or another for the past several years. These lens are COMPLETELY different. No more dry eye issues. No more foggy vision. No more protein buildup. I've even retired my little bottle of Pataday to the back of the medicine cabinet.

I rated these too soon. The trial lenses are great but as soon as you buy them, they are totally different. The ones I tried on from the doctor had crisp optics and were very comfortable. As soon as I bought a box of these, I noticed they were different. The optics are horrible and they make my eyes very dry and tired. Don't be fooled by the trial lenses. They ARE different! Don't waste your money buying these.

I wanted a silicone hydrogel lens and tried focus night and day, purevision and acuvue hydraclear (too big) Then, I tried the O2 Optics and LOVE them! I can go all day without using drops or anything. What I like best is I have astigmatism and with these lenses, I can see almost as good as my glasses without needing torics. Ive been in glasses for 16 years, and been wearing contacts on and off (mostly off) for 5+ years. I stuck with glasses mostly because most contacts bothered me after a few hours, became dry and itchy. I sit in an air conditioned office at a computer all day, and live in AZ with extremely hot dry climate. I never thought I'd be a contact lens wearer because of this. I tried focus monthlys and acuvue advance, b/c of slight astigmatism, and found them just too uncomfortable to wear. My optometrist suggested silicone hydrogel 02 Optix for eye health and the itchyness problem at the end of the day. I noticed they felt a bit thicker at first, but after a week, im in LOVE with these! No itchyness! I'm waiting for the toric to come out soon, because my vision is 20/25 with the spherical. Looking forward to trying out the toric! I'm officially a contact lens wearer now!!!

Eye irritation that lead to heavy eye watering and extreme light sensitivity. Could not even leave the house for a day at a time... could not close my eyes without them watering and hurting. It was miserable! I've been wearing contacts for 14 years... never had these kind of problems. Have read reviews elsewhere from people claiming these have caused them temporary or even permanent corneal damage... NOT including lot numbers that were recalled. My contacts were ALSO not included in the recall list of numbers. Don't even waste time with these nightmares!

I was worried based on some of the reviews here but I asked my optician and she said pretty much all her patients wear these for a month. I love that I can wear these for days on end. I average about 4-5 days between taking them out. They are so comfortable it doesn't feel like you're wearing contacts. I do notice some mornings, it takes a few minutes for them to get back to 100% comfortable but that's probably becuase of normal eye goo. No other problems whatsoever. I definitely recommend.

I think 90% of the problems people have with these lenses are casued by using the wrong type of solution. You have to be sure and use a solution that says "Ideal for silicone hydrogel lenses" or something to that effect. These things are great, I just bought a years and a half supply and i couldn;t be happier.

I started out with contacts wearing B&L Purevision monthlies. The problem was that in this country, there was a limited selection of toric lenses, and the doctor felt these would be the most comfortable. She herself preferred Air Optix (as it's known here). I've gotten along ok with the Purevisions for the last couple of years, but while they are very thin, they feel thick on the eye and, I'm getting out the re-wetting drops within minutes of putting them in. They just became too painful to wear, even new out of the box. I thought about just going back to glasses, with dailies as an option, but then I saw Optix toric lenses on the price list, and decided to give them a try. Once I was fitted, these were just a revelation. They feel like... nothing. I can wear them on windy days, in and out of buildings, at home watching tv, and they just feel like I have normal eyes. I haven't touched re-wetting drops since I got them, although it would be no shame to need some during a long day. In short, the best I can say is that I had planned to get fitted for new glasses as well, but there has simply been no need. Thank you, Cibavision!

My doctor started me with Av oasys, which cause my eyes to itch badly, especially at the end of the day. Then he gave me Pataday 0.2% drops to decrease the "allergies". Prior to that I used AV Advance. I only had o2 optix for one week, and I like it. Sometimes I even forget that I have them in my eyes. I take them off at night and put them back when I get up. So far so good!!!!!! And the price is much cheaper. Make sure your place matches prices, unless you order on line, I found them in Costco for 16.85 per box.

I started wearing these lenses last summer, and was surprised to find that my eyes would often sting and burn when I wore them. The stinging almost always goes away after the first 3-4 hours, and after that I found I could wear them longer than my old lenses before they dried out. But the morning stinging eventually made me go back to wearing my old brand. I went to my optometrist yesterday for a regular exam, and he wants me to try these awful lenses again, because they are just "better for your eyes". Sure enough, today I am sitting here with that old stinging, watering, and burning sensation again - these things are horrible!

After reading so many negative reviews here I felt I had to weigh in with my own experience, even though I'm completely new to contacts and have no experience with any other brands. In fact I'm still wearing my trial pair, and will probably aim for my optometrist's recommended replacement schedule of 25-30 days. After thinking more and more often about getting contacts I finally went for it recently and was fitted with a pair of O2 Optix. As for an adjustment period, I could hardly tell they were there as I walked home from my fitting. Let's say 15 minutes, then. That felt pretty good to me. I have slight astigmatism in both eyes so I'm not quite as crisp *most of the time* as with my specs (I now notice subtle changes throughout the day that I suspect I was oblivious to before). In all, very natural feeling with no sense of anything being in or on my eye. No tiredness at all at the end of the day - it's more a question of 'well, I suppose I ought to take them out now.' I cycle quite a bit and I find that the wind irritates and dries my eyes more now than before. It was a problem anyway though and I've now solved it with a pair of UVEX 'Fury' goggles - recommended for anyone with a similar issue who's not happy with the coverage of cycling-specific sunglasses. I was thinking that I'd wear contacts part of the time, specs part of the time but for an 'investment' of 2 minutes morning and night it has hardly seemed worthwhile to wear the specs. I am really wowed by this product and am so glad I didn't have to suffer through earlier generations of contact lens. These lenses definitely work well for me.

I wore O2 Optix for a year with no problems. Last year I went in for my eye exam and got them again. Three months later I had a very red eye that was weepy and very irritated. I stopped wearing the lenses for a couple of weeks because of this and it went away. The red eye problem continue to occur so I went to my doctor who gave me some antibacterial drops to start with and said if they didn't fix the problem then to go to an opthamologist. Well, it happened again and it turns out that my contacts were scratching my corneas which, after having read the recall notice, was caused by the lens not moving correctly with my eye. The difference being that I purhcased my lenses in June, not September. The eye doctor had to put me on steroid drops for my eyes which are fairly harmful to them, but I had to heal the tears. DO NOT BUY THESE LENSES. I understand that they have "fixed" the problem, but I will not go back to them. You only get one pair of eyes and I'm not messing with them.

When I first started wearing these lenses they seemed perfect and great! It reduced my eye redness alot and was very comfortable. Now ive noticed that these lenses arent so great after all. I dont know if its because of the contacts but i now have a frequent residue that forms in my eyes (you know that stuff most people get in their eyes when they wake up with in the morning), only now it seems to form throughout the day, and whats worse is that it sometimes gets stuck on the actual lens which blurrs your vision! Ive also seen reviews that had this same problem so its not just me! Anyway, there great at first but I believe it all depends on the individual.

These contacts are not comfortable. I've used the correct type of lens solution and worn them properly, but they never feel right and tend to make my eyes water. I've been to two different doctors who tried to get me to buy these but they are not the fantastic lenses that they would have you believe. I think its kind of strange that some seem so bent on getting their patients to wear these (See the review by the assistant to a doctor). Not sure what's going on with that. Reading the reviews, it seems that you either love these or hate them so obviously they must work for some people. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone with eyes that are at all sensitive though. And again, for people who like to post saying that others aren't using them correctly: I used the recommended solutions and used them as instructed. I've been wearing lenses for a long time and tried many different brands but these just did not work for me.

I switched to these (silicone hydrogel - lotrafilcon B) lenses from B&L Soflens-66 (alphafilcon A) and noticed an immediate improvement in comfort, especially in how my eyes felt at the end of the day. There was a brief adjustment period (a few days) before they felt completely natural. The O2 lenses feel 'slipperier' when wet, which may be why some people complain they're hard to work with. The texture and comfort does seem to change over the life of the lens, though - the first day or 2 are often the most slippery and least comfortable. I also find that a pair will get noticeably uncomfortable after 2 weeks (my optometrist recommended they be changed every 14 days anyway). They also feel different depending on how humid the environment is - they seem to dry out quickly in my dry office building, even w/rewetting drops. I rarely have the same issues in other settings. Finally, for those people experiencing extreme or frequent discomfort...just stop wearing your lenses already. Different manufacturers will fit differently, and the same brand won't feel the same on everyone. A good optometrist will re-fit you until you find something comfortable and safe, often at no additional cost. They'll often also exchange the unused portion of your old lens order, so you shouldn't have to sacrifice eye health and comfort just to avoid 'wasting' a little money.

Medical Device Recall v02, Page 1 of 5 January 12, 2007 IMPORTANT ¬ᆲ DEVICE PRODUCT RECALL ATTENTION: EYE CARE PRACTITIONERS, DISTRIBUTORS, RETAILERS O2OPTIX¬ᄁ (lotrafilcon B) Soft Contact Lenses CIBA Vision Corporation is conducting a voluntary recall on select lots of spherical O2OPTIX (lotrafilcon B) soft contact lenses in the United States and other countries. We are taking this voluntary action because we identified that some lenses in these lots may fall below our standard for ion permeability, a material characteristic that correlates with lens movement on the eye. Reduced ion permeability in O2OPTIX (lotrafilcon B) lenses may lead to reduced lens movement, symptoms of discomfort and/or foreign body irritation. The potential medical safety risk to consumers posed by lenses with reduced ion permeability includes discomfort, foreign body irritation and superficial localized corneal staining. The possibility of occurrence of these findings is moderate. As with any staining of the corneal tissue, the risk of corneal infection is somewhat increased, although the probability is remote. This recall only affects the O2OPTIX (lotrafilcon B) lenses identified below. No other CIBA Vision product is affected by this recall action. You will receive a separate communication regarding O2OPTIX (lotrafilcon B) supply shortly. Please feel free to call our Customer Service Department at (800) 241-5999 or your CIBA Vision Sales Representative should you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, William D. Schaeffer Global Head of Quality CIBA Vision Corporation Medical Device Recall v02, Page 2 of 5 IMPORTANT ¬ᆲ DEVICE PRODUCT RECALL O2OPTIX¬ᄁ (lotrafilcon B) Soft Contact Lenses CLINICAL ASSESSMENT FOR THE EYE CARE PROFESSIONAL Ion permeability is a measure of the ability of sodium ions to permeate through a contact lens material. It has been shown, along with other factors, to correlate with lens movement on the eye, which is an important fitting characteristic. The O2OPTIX (lotrafilcon B) lenses with reduced ion permeability, subject to this recall, may cause reduced lens movement in some patients, possibly causing discomfort and/or foreign body irritation, usually within the first 1 to 4 hours of wearing the lens. Superficial, localized corneal staining may be observed in symptomatic patients. The symptoms diminish quickly upon removal of the lenses. In addition, signs and symptoms usually resolve in 2-24 hours. If the same lens is replaced on the eye, the same symptoms will typically reoccur within a very short period. The potential medical safety risk to consumers posed by lenses with reduced ion permeability includes discomfort and/or foreign body irritation and superficial localized corneal staining may be observed. As with any staining of the corneal tissue the risk of corneal infection is somewhat increased although the probability is remote (see summary table below). Medical Risk Probability of Occurrence with Reduced IP lenses Discomfort and/or Foreign Body Irritation Negligible Moderate Superficial Localized Corneal Staining Low Moderate Corneal Infection Moderate Remote Foreign body irritation and corneal staining are expected non-serious events for routine contact lens usage and can occur for various reasons, such as dust or particulate matter, lens tears or other mechanical type effects. The foreign body irritation that may result from lenses with reduced ion permeability increases in intensity while the lens is worn, necessitating prompt lens removal. The Package Insert and Patient Instruction Booklet advise practitioners and wearers to remove the lens in cases of such irritation. Wearers are advised to seek professional eyecare evaluation if the symptoms persist. No serious adverse events related to this issue have been reported on a global basis. We are presently aware of only seven (7) non-serious product complaints which are likely related to the use of O2OPTIX (lotrafilcon B) lenses with reduced ion permeability. 4/15/07 by Disha: "Packaging correlation??"

Pros: eyes feel more awake and refreshed

Cons: do take some time to adjust to

Has been wearing O2 Optix: 1 Month, 7 days/week, 12 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Replenish

Replaces contacts every: 20 Days

So this review is kind of in response to Mike C. I first got a trial pair of these and absolutely loved them. I had been using Acuvue 2 for ~6 years before and they dried out so quickly and kept fogging up. I had to keep putting eye drops in my eyes. Also, as a college student, I couldnt help but occasionally nap in them which was becoming more and more of problem. So O2 Optix was a refreshing change and I really enjoy the ability to nap in them comfortablly and to occasionally sleep in them. But now I ordered them online and the packaging is different; it says "spherical" on the lens case itself instead of o2 optix. I literally just put them in and am feeling more discomfort and blurriness then I was before. I thought that maybe the online company jipped me but now I am wondering if it is just new packaging. Anyone else get this new packaging? And have you experienced noticbly more discomfort with them?

Ive had 02optics for a while and have found that there 5 times more breathable technology only makes your eyes feel dry and more irritable. rinsing them does not help. If you are in an air conditioned building it is much worse. dont buy these contacts. Ciba visions fresh look coloured contacts are not only cheaper but feel much better

Does anyone else find these lens awful the first time you put in fresh ones? It seems like it takes a couple days for them to get focused. I don't change them like I should for that reason alone. Once I get them in for say, a week, then they are wonderful, but that first couple days... :-(

Cons: Recent recall.

I work for an optometrist. O2 Optix is his preferred lens, to the point it's the only we stock. I know there have been issues with the recall, but it was for the good of the patients. If you have problems with the contacts 1.you are wearing the lenses in manner inconsitant with what your doctor recommended, or 2. your doctor doesn't know how to fit them properly. The guy who said he puts them then takes them out a week later-WRONG. These are not extended wear lenses. If you need to sleep 7 nights in a lens you should have been fit in Focus Night and Day. If they burn, check you are using a solution that is approved for silicone hydrogels-not some store brand generic. And finally not every lens works for every person. If you don't like them TELL YOUR DOCTOR.

I can't seem to get these contacts. I will not be getting Optix 2 the next time i go in for an exam. I ran out of these contacts at the end of Dec 06. I tried to order more but after waiting for 3 weeks was told they were recalled. Eventually i found a sample pair to use and have ordered through another place. Still no contacts (end of march of 07) It ridiculous. They should take them off the market if they cant fill the orders.

Why try lenses that make you want to scratch your eyes out immediately?! I've never had such a bad experience. Some days would be good. I would put them in my eye and a week later I would take them out. I don't recommend this, BTW. But some days would be bad. I would put them in my eye (brand new lenses) and within an hour I was itching and rubbing my eyes like crazy. [No, I don't have allergies.] I finally pinpointed it to be the polymer that these lenses were made of - the body tends to reject it because of the material they use - NOT ALL LENSES ARE MADE OF THE SAME STUFF! I can't stand these lenses and would consider burning a box in effigy if I could afford the matches after buying these worthless tools.

I have been wearing contact lenses for 20 years and have never had any issures with them. Since wearing the O2 Optix my eyes have been red, super dry, very blurry, and I always feel like I have something in my eye scratching it. It finally got so bad I went to the eye doc. I've been wearing contacts for about 15 years now, and I haven't been able to wear these for more than one evening once a week for about 3 or 4 months now. No kidding. The first month I wore them, I almost went blind in my right eye....some kind of infection. I have to say I was SO glad to see I am not alone. I usually only wear contacts on the weekends. I bought these in October. I found I could not wear them, they were amazingly uncomfortable. The only difference is my eyes are always red now, even though I don't wear the lenses anymore. I went to the eye doctor, thinking I had an infection and he told me it was allergies (I don't have allergies) and that I probably just could not wear contact lenses anymore! I can see now I'm going to go back and try a different brand. I've been wearing contacts for 23 years, and I've never come across contacts SO bad!!!!

My sister and I went to the eye doctor together in December. He told us that we both had swollen corneas and that we should use O2 OPTIX. We tried them and instantly hated them. We went back in a week and told him so, and he got angry with us both and said we had to try them again. He refused to let either of us try another brand. I also got new glasses, and am now wearing them all the time. My sister is having the most problems, with white mucous coming out of her eyes and her eyes are bloodshot. We have both had contacts for most of our lives, so it's not like we don't know how to take care of them. I WOULD NOT recommed these awful things to my worst enemy! They are hard to handle, dry out almost immediately, and the solution is pricey.

I've tried the o2 optix for the first time. I use the prescription 7.0 (left eye) 6.0 (right eye). for the 7.0 prescription, my eye felt irritated after a couple hours. When I tried taking the lens out of my eye, it felt like it was burning my eye. I had blurry vision for a couple hours. I tried soaking the lens in the solution and even trying on a new pair, but I experienced the same problem. I guess this is the batch that was recalled. These are the ONLY lenses my eyes will tolerate and that's just fine by me because I LOVE them! They were recommended to me because they let more air in and let my eyes breathe! They are easy to put in, don't flip, and are so comfortable. I wear them 12 hours plus, some days much longer than that! I've tried a few other lenses since my husband is in the eyecare business and was using me as his guinea pic, but I couldn't tolerate the switch for even a day, since the other lenses felt gritty, very uncomfortable and cheap. In the past I have had minor papillary conjunctivitis and with these lenses the inflammation is practically nonexistent. O2 Optix are a wonderful lense!

Ok, here's the deal with my pro's and con's above. I have been wearing these lenses since last spring and I had no problems until I reordered the lenses in November. The lenses for my right eye came in the same O2 Optix boxes and O2 Optix individual packages and worked great. However, the lenses for my left eye came in individual lens packages that did not say O2 Optix but rather simply said 'Spherical'. The lenses in the new packaging gave me severe pain. So I went back to another lens for my left eye for a month. However, the supply ran out and I tried the newly packaged O2 Optix lenses again for my left eye. Once again, severe pain. Last week I remembered that I still had a box of the original O2 Optix lenses I purchased in the spring and I've been using them with no problems at all. So, have the O2 Optix lenses changed? I see a lot of good reviews for these lenses in the past but now they are not good at all. By the way, the difference in the boxes is that the new boxes say 'contains 6 spherical lenses' instead of 'contains 6 lenses'. More craziness: my eye-doctor and Wikipedia both say that O2 Optix lenses are not spherical but rather are aspherical. I think the lenses have changed. I'd be interested in hearing which packaging your lenses are in and if you've noticed a difference too. Thanks!

I have sensitive eyes and these contacts seem to be hard feeling on my eyes. They stick in one spot on your eye and do not move always when your eye moves. This creates a problem while working or driving. They also dry out my eyes extremely fast and I normally can't wait to take them out when I get home from working only 8 hours. I am going to be changing contacts this weekend. These are a waste of money!

I first tried these a year ago and hated them. They irritated my eyes, etc. When I went back for my check-up the Dr. told me it was because I was using the wrong cleaner on them. I used to use Renu and it is not made for silicone hydrogel lenses, which is why I had the discomfort. Now I make sure my lens cleaner is safe for silicone hydrogel contacts. Maybe this will help others. I haven't had any problems this go around.

I would not recommend these contacts to anyone. I am very frustrated with the "WONDERFUL-BETTER-FOR-YOUR-EYES" contacts. They dry out so quickly--I find myself blinking purposefully just so I can see. (Literally makes for hazardous driving!) My daughter is also trying these out. She is having more difficulty with hers because they tend to flip inside out or fold over or stick to her finger, or mine when I try to help her, rather than to her eye. Visual clarity is awful.

I hate these contacts...they make my eyes itch..if that makes sense. They are also hard to get in and out of my eyes. I couldn't keep these in for no more then an hour before the irritation started.

I wore Frequency 55 for almost a decade and my doctor said to switch to these. He says they are thicker, so the eyes will go through an adjustment period. At first, they were difficult to take out and felt funny, but I persisted and now they are great! I wear my contacts all the time - they are very comfortable and never dry.

I have trouble with dryness with these contacts too. I have to sometimes put drops in eyes in order to get them out of my eyes. I have gotten about five pairs that when I put them in they feel scratchy but then later my eyes are hurting so bad that I have to replace the contacts. I see another reviewer has had the same problem with possibly a small tear in them.

I heard about these great new healthier-for-your-eyes contact lenses and was excited to try them. At first they felt very comfortable. I also liked that they don't flip inside out. But when it came time to remove them (at the end of the day), it was really hard to remove them, especially for one of my eyes. I thought it was just a fluke but it has happened almost every time. So I'm back to my Acuvue2s and trying to figure out what to do with the O2 lenses I have left.

I got O2 Optix last week, the first time I started to use contact lenses. At first I thought that I had to get used to the feeling but it turned out that the problem I was experiencing was due to the contacts. Putting the contacts in was hard, because when they had contact with my eyesm they had a slight stinging. Taking them was even worse because they were stuck onto my eyes and it took me 45 minutes to take them out, and the only reason why I did was because I had started to cry! Also, they did not center, which caused me to not be able to see properly (blurry when i looked down) and the entire time, I felt like I had a hair in my eyes. This is why I only wore them for 2 hours!

Pros: Comfort and visual acuity.

Cons: None

Following a minimum adjustment period, I find that the lens has better visual acuity and is more comfortable than any lens Ive worn so far. I wear them continuously for 2 weeks before changing them out. I have found that Blink-N-Clean are the most effective and compatible lens drops. I use them three times a day: AM, late afternoon, and PM. On the infrequent occasion a lens becomes a bit cloudy, I simply remove and give it a quick rub and rinse with Sensitive Eyes saline solution and clarity is immediately restored.

I switched to O2 optics after 2 years of acuvue. The result, severe dry eyes i developed during the months wearing these. From my experience, this perticular lense didnt feel anymore healthy than acuvue. Beware, dry eyes comes with O2 optics. My guess is that this lense allows way more o2 to come in contact with your eyes to the point you tear evaporate faster. For people with a long history of wearing traditional contacts, think real hard before you buy o2 optics.

Cons: Occasionally get a ripped one out of the box

Has been wearing O2 Optix: 1 Year, 7 days/week, 24 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Aquaview

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

These are by far the most comfortable contacts I've worn as a person that sleeps in their contacts regularly. I usually only take them out to clean and soak overnight once every 2 weeks before replacing. The only downfall is that occasionally I will get one that either already has a tear in it or I put a small tear in it when getting it out of the new wrapper. I'm not sure which is the case. It may be from using my index finger to get it out, but sometimes it is torn when I get it out of the solution. I guess that is the compromise for such thin comfortable lenses. I'm willing to deal with it.

Pros: Deliver's more oxygen to your eye.

Cons: Don't hold moisture well.

First of all, these are made of some kind of silicone and are thicker than my Acuvue2. I think the thickness makes them harder to handle and somewhat less comfortable on the eye. I loved my Acuvue2, but switched because I found myself over-using my contacts and needed something healthier for extended wear. The best thing about these lenses is that they are more breathable than most other lenses and therefore better for eyes, especially during extended wear. The worst thing about these lenses it that they don't hold moisture very well at all. Even fresh O2 Optix lenses get dry often; and although I would like to, I never sleep in these lenses. If I sleep in them they get so dry that they stick to my eye and scratch my eye upon removal. This can painful & I intend to try another brand the next time I get lenses.

2/15/06 by JoJo: "Best out of the Three Lenses I've Tried"

Pros: No complaints

Cons: Comfortable, no irritation.

Has been wearing O2 Optix: 1 Month, 7 days/week, 12 hours/day

These are the third brand of contact lenses I've tried. I have very dry eyes. After trying brand number one (not sure of the brand) she sent me home with O2Optix and Advance Acuvue. The Acuvue were as irritating as the original brand I tried, but the O2Optix were immediately more comfortable for me. I can wear them all day and with no discomfort. With the other lenses I had to blink continually to clear a "fog" off the lenses, with O2Optix I dont have that problem, and I don't feel the irritation as with the others. As far as the vision goes, I'm still trying to adjust to monovision, so I do still have some blurr, but it is improving. It is as good as it was with the other lenses.
