7/27/10 by Mimalaquisha: "Perfect lenses for me"

Pros: Long-lasting, durable, good moisture, clear vision

Cons: Occasional rip

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 4 Years, 7 days/week, 13 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Clear Care

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

I haven't needed to change my brand of lenses because these work so well for me. My vision is great, my eyes stay moist, these have UV protection, and they last a looooong time. So, I DO NOT condone this at all, but I forgot to re-order my lenses before I ran out, and I've been wearing these disposables for over a month now. They still feel great and I notice only slight dryness because of the age of these lenses. I have back-up lenses that are another brand (Soflens 66 Toric), but as soon as I put them in my eyes were dry immediately, and I came back to these trusty lenses. The only complaint is that I notice occasional rips in the lenses, straight from the manufacturer. I've experienced that 2-3 times in the 4 years I've been wearing this brand, and I wear my lenses 7 days a week. Not too bad, but irritating, of course. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about these lenses.

Cons: Left Eye not perfect

A little history... I started wearing contact lenses when I was 13 until I was 19. Then I tried again years later. Still cannot find anything that I can wear. My first lenses was the type that you have 1 pair of lenses for one year. I had great success with those. When I tried conacts as an adult they put me in disposables... not good, bought them and never wore them. Now im attempting it again, Acuvue Advance was all they had in trial for my script, I wanted Oasis so they are on order... however Immediately after I put the acuvue advance in my right eye was absolutley perfect, but my left was not good, its blurry as heck. I am not impressed. Its now been 4 hours and by now whatever ajustment period I would need is over with.. I wont wear contacts ever again If I cant get better vision in this left eye.

These lenses are awful. I have never had issues with lenses constantly ripping. My eyes are so dry and irritated all the time as well. I just replaced my contacts 2 days ago and while I was working, my left one tore completely in half in my eye!

Pros: comfortable all day long

Cons: can't think of any

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 2 Years, 5 days/week, 10 hours/day

Replaces contacts every: 1 Month

Had minor drying near the end of a long day. Usually wore for around ten hours average but some days was much longer and it wasn't till the very end did I have any drying out. Very sturdy contacts, in the couple years I had this brand never had one rip/tear at all. Highly recommend this brand, blurring rarely occured which I had problems with prior brands because of my astigmatism. Will be going back to this brand after trying Oasys for only a couple weeks and hating them! Never had red or burning eyes with this brand!

This lens was prescribed saying that it would last for 15 days, but after 5-6 days the vision starts getting blurred, and the lens doesnt stick to the eye any more. The lens looks as if its worn out and an air bubble like thing is formed on the eye when worn.

I've been wearing contact lenses for 20 years. I've never had any problems until I was prescribed these lenses. They are comfortable for 2 days, at the most. By the 3rd day, they start to degrade and scratch the eye. These leanses are supposed to be replaced every 3 weeks, but I can't even get a week out of them without doing damage to my eye. I'm going to request that the eye doctor prescribe a different lens because these are unwearable after the 2nd day!

Pros: Can't think of any

Cons: Extremely dry eyes, blurred vision, stuck to my eyes.

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 2 Years, 7 days/week, 10 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Renu or Optifree

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

Like other reviewers have mentioned these lenses start out okay, but literally within 3 to 4 days they degrade. My eyes become extremely dry and my vision blurred. At first I thought I was given faulty lenses from the distributor, but soon realized it was the poor quality of the lens itself, since I had problems with replacement lens. I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years, and had been extremely pleased with Acuvue brand contacts. I was wearing the Acuvue Torics for numerous years until they recently discontinued them (oh why J&J did you stop making those? you idiots!). I was recommended Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism and have had problems ever since. I am worried they may have caused damage to my eyes, and often have to pluck at my eyes to remove them. I have never had this kind of problem with contacts in the past. I would really discourage people from purchasing these terrible lens. I'm going to my eye doc to see what other brands might work better for. As for Acuvue, they just lost a longtime customer for creating such bad product.

Pros: zero discomfort, consistent vision

Cons: cost, but absolutely worth it

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 1 Year, 7 days/week, 18 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Bausch and Lomb Renu Multipurpose

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

I am a farmer and mechanic and had never thought I could even wear contacts until my a friend suggested these lenses. The next time I went in for a eye exam I got a trial pair and loved them. I find that I have very consistent vision and no discomfort as long a I am very careful about not getting anything in my eyes. In my situation dust does not seem to affect them as I wear them while combining and moving grain all the time. I soak mine every night in Renu without rubbing or rinsing and am also very careful to wash my hands before handling them! I seem to get about 2 weeks out of a pair but I probably replace them somewhat prematurely just to make sure I never have a problem. I really felt I had to write a review after I saw so many bad ones on these lenses. After looking at some other reviews here I really think that careful handling and using a high quality brand name solution is really important! It does take some effort on my part but I wear these lenses for around 18 hours a day 7 days a week with little to no problem in some extreme conditions.

Pros: clearity

Cons: easily builds up protein on lenses

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 5 Years, 7 days/week, 10 hours/day

The lenses helps me see more clear and makes it easier for me to drive at night. The one thing that I don't like about them is that it builds up protein quickly on the lenses and it does not wash off. I have used contact cleaner solutions and it still does not remove the protein. I have to change my contacts everytime there's protein build up on the lenses. Basically my three month supply only lasts me a month.

Pros: Thick lens

Cons: Irritating

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 0 Month, 5 days/week, 8 hours/day

This lens didn't come in my correct axis, so no matter which type I tried I could not see perfectly. However my problem was that, while the lenses felt comfortable enough while they were in, after I took them out at night my eyes were very itchy and red. Each morning after my eyes would be watery and irritated. It turns out my eyes dry out fairly quickly and despite wearing Acuvue Oasys in one eye and this lens in the other was not working for me. I'm sure that this lens is fine for some people, but for me it causes much irritation.

3/07/09 by GreysAnatomyfan: "Best contacts ever"

Pros: Very comfortable, excellent vision

Cons: None

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 1 Month, 7 days/week, 14 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Opti-free express or Sauflon all in one lite

Replaces contacts every: 14 Days

I have slight astigmatism (-1) which always put me off wearing contact lenses as I need excellent vision for my job and all the toric lenses I've tried in the past I've found extremely uncomfortable. However lately I decided to try toric lenses again. I had several unsuccessful trials (Proclear torics - caused intense itching, Purevision - comfortable but poor vision, several dailies - only come in limited axis resulting in poor vision) before trying acuvue advance for astigmatism. Within 30 seconds of putting them in my eye I couldn't even feel them. They gave me excellent vision and I can literally forget about them all day. I don't generally write reviews but I was shocked after reading all the bad reviews on this site and thought it was important to write one. Obviously everyone's eyes are different but I am surprised by the amount of bad reviews. Even after 2 weeks of wearing this lense I have had no problems, no tearing, no splitting and no build-up. As these are silicon hydrogel lenses it is important to use a good compatible solution with them, and I think this may be why so many people have problems with these lenses. See www.staininggrid.com for a reference. I use Sauflon all in one lite or Opti-free express and I know both of these are compatible. My advice is to give these lenses a try with a compatible solution and I will be surprised if you don't love them too!

Pros: Very comfortable, do not feel on eye

Cons: Cannot get 2 weeks wear out of them

Has been wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism: 2 Years, 7 days/week, 16 hours/day

Cleaning solution used: Opti Free Express

Replaces contacts every: 8 Days

I have been wearing contact lenses for over 20 years. I have an astigmatism and started out with the rigid gas permeable lenses - toric lenses were not available at that time - they felt like rocks in my eyes and were horrible. I stopped wearing contacts for years until finally trying my first toric lens, Frequency 55. They were a good lense for me, but I always felt the edge of the lense on my eye lids. Two years ago, I started wearing the Acuvue Advanced for Astigmatism - they are by far the best lense I have ever worn. My vision is crisp and clear and I can't feel the lense in my eye each time I blink. I work long hours in front of a computer and don't need to use rewetting drops that often. I remove the lenses every night and rarely rub them - which is probably why I only get about a week out of them. I'm OK with that. Downside, my prescription is not that strong, only +1 in the left eye. I frequently get at least one bad lense that does not fit right in each box that I buy. I am willing to accept that for the success I have with these contacts. I also wear the Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism - new, not sure yet which I like better, but the advanced lense is by far the best lense I have ever worn - great job on these J&J!

Pros: Comfortable when new, easy to read at close distances

Cons: Short lifespan, flimsy, fragile, difficult to apply

Cleaning solution used: CVS Multi-Purpose solution

These lenses are good when brand new but after only a few days they get real flimsy and hard to apply to the eye. As they age, you can feel them moving around, even folding over sometimes, and you get few hours each day before having to remove them. I switched to B & L PureVision Toric and they are 10 times better; thicker, more durable, but not as good for reading at all. Still, I'll take the trade off. Look elsewhere.

Lenses fold in half making it difficult to insert; also causing cracks & tears in lenses. After 8 hours of wear, eyes are itchy, red, & uncomfortable. Vision is not as clear as previous lenses. Clear to whitish goo discharge also a continual problem. Have worn contacts since 1982, never problems as these.

When you first put them in they are fantastic. My doctor let me try some in office and I loved them. Within days, my vision became blurry, even after following all the cleansing instructions. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that they had some kind of white film on them that I could absolutely not get rid of. Now I have three or four pairs in rotation because I can't wear a single pair for longer than a day or two. They also tear easily. I'll be lucky to get 4 months out of a 12 month supply. This product is ridiculous.

Before switching to Acuvue Advance, I wore Acuvue Toric for almost 4 years. I had absolutely no problems with Acuvue Torics. The Advance lenses sounded promising, so I was totally fine with switching. When I first tried it on, it felt heavier, and stuck to my eyes well, but maybe a little too well. I had so much problem getting it off later. Lately, it's been irritating my eyes and they'd turn red at the end of the. I've had to go back to wearing my glasses until my eyes got better, but when I'd go back to contacts, it'd turn red again. I'm thoroughly disappointed with these lenses.

I have been wearing contact lenses for more than 18 years and I have worn everything from rigid gas permeables to the supposedly the latest and greatest thing for correction of astigmatism. I found them to be uncomfortable for any length of time but increasinly so as the day wore on. Essentially they were heavy, sticky and itchy. It was akin to having drops of semi-tacky glue on my eyes all day long. The correction was only average. Prior to the one week trial my doctor offered with these lenses I had been wearing Biomedics toric lenses which, while not the most comfortbale lenses I've ever worn (they were no good for more than 10 hours and forget wearing them at all in front of a computer)the Biomedics beat these Accuvues by a whole lot. NOT recommended.

These contacts didn't work for me. After 7 hours of wearing them, I had bloody irritated eyes and developed tearing. They did do a good job in correcting my vision though. However, I could see clearly for the first couple hours only and then the vision became blurry on and off. I have worn Frequency 55 before. They fit nicely but the con is that they get dry after 4-5 hours of wear. At least they stay fixed in the eye and do not rotate as much as these Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. Will try PureVision, Focus Toric and Vertex Toric as I have read nice reviews about them. Very dissapointed with these contacts as I expected much better quality and eye health.

They tear so easily that almost everyone I tried on (so far 7) have tears in the BRANDNEW lenses! They irritate the whole day. My vision was so terrible I wanted to quit wearing lenses at all! After a weeks my eyes even where red from the irratation. Even after I stopped wearing them, it took 3 days for my eyes to heal. These lenses are CRAP and EXPENSIVE! I switched over to PureVision Toric. What a difference! I love wearing lenses again...

I have used the original acuvue toric, advanced toric, and the Biomedics toric. Personally, the original acuvue toric was the best. While the Acuvue advanced are comfortable for about a week, I can feel the micro-tears and malformation's develop in the lens. As a result, they get blurry and uncomfortable fast. The original acuvue torics were stable and didn't get blurry. The only thing that wore them down was the calcium build up.

Pros: Very comfy! No more dry eyes!

Cons: thin, roll on my fingers, sometimes hard to get out

After trying many lenses, I really like these! Like others have said, sometimes they roll on my fingers trying to put them in, but that's a minor inconvenience. Also regarding some of the pink eye complaints - my eyes used to be constantly pink during the day, and I thought it might be the contact lenses, but when I asked my doc, he said it was allergies. I went on Zyrtec, and haven't had a problem since. Sometimes it takes them a minute to settle into the right spot, but after that I don't have any problems, and forget that they're there (unlike past brands, where I'm constantly aware of them at all times). I haven't noticed a protein build up or any problems with oils, but I have eyes that are prone to building up a LOT of protein quickly, so I scrub mine pretty thoroughly after each wearing to make sure I keep that down to a dull roar. Overall, I'm really pleased with these lenses. :)

My eye doctor insisted I switch to these from Acuvue 2 (which I absolutely loved) because I would have much crisper vision. The reality is that everything is fairly blurry all the time and sometimes they go so blurry I can't see at all. I can constantly feel them on my eyes, and after only a few hours of wearing them I get a pink ring around my iris where the contact lies, which then spreads to my whole eye. I used to wear my contacts all the time, but these are so consistantly awful that I only wear them now for special occasions, and that's only for a few hours.

I switched to these lenses from Bausch and Lomb 66 Torics after 7 years of wearing the same brand because it is suggested that these do not get as dry as many other brands. Well, this is true, but the cons outweigh the pros with this lens. Immediately when I got these out of the package I noticed that they were all folded up into little wads. When I straightened them out and put them in my eye I noticed that they felt better on the eye initially than my old lenses. As the day progressed, however, I began to get a sharp headache and I noticed my eyes getting very bloodshot. My eyes started stinging and I eventually had to take the lenses out. I thought it would get better as time progressed, so I gave these lenses 2 months. After 4 pairs of these lenses doing the same thing to my eyes every day, I am going to my doctor today to get rid of these and go back to the B&L 66 Torics. Wearing my lenses for 12-14 hours per day is required, and I can't stant these Acuvue lenses for more than 3-4 hours.

I thought there was something wrong with my eyes until I read the reviews of this lens. It is probably the most comfortable lens for astigmatism I've tried but the biggest drawback is how quickly protein deposits form. Sometimes they occur within days of putting on a new pair and range from uncomfortable "spots" to oily haze. This seems to happen most often when I wear eye makeup or cook. One week I had to go through three left lenses. This occurs even if I reduce the number of hours or days of the week I put them on. I never had this problem with my previous B&L lenses.

After a 10 year break from contacts, I decided to try them again, as I had worn them succesfully in the past. I asked my opthalmologist to order me these lenses INSTEAD of letting him recommend a brand. Big mistake! These are easy to put in and comfortable, but my vision is blurry out of these lenses and they are the same RX as my glasses. They also have a tendency to fold in half a lot when I put them in. Dr. said he is gonna try another brand on me.

These contacts are made of a material that attract oil! Anybody who wears lotion, moisturizers, makeup or uses a soap containing moisturizers CANNOT wear these contacts. Once that film of oil gets on them, the contact is ruined! I wasted 4 pair in one week, thinking maybe I wasn't caring for them properly. I even used Clear Care Solution thinking that it was protein buildup but it did not work.

Well I wore regular contacts for 10 years, but can not get used to toric lenses. I used to wear the vial regualar lenses (kind that last a couple months). With the toric the docs all want to give me the 2 week kind. I seem to do okay in these but my eyes are always pinkish now. They are great outdoors but not so much inside. The winter is worse. Anyone have any suggestions on another brand? I tried almost every 2 week kind. Should I go and try the vial toric lenses or are they worse?

I decided to try contact lenses after a 5-year break. So, my doc gave me a trial pair of 'Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism'. As expected I had some discomfort in the first couple of days. I was expecting the discomfort to ease up after a week. Instead my discomfort started to increase!! I felt tired and my eyes became red after 7-8 hours of wearing. My doc examined my eye after a week and said the lenses were NOT aligning as expected to correct my Astigmatism! I switched to B&L PureVision. Feel much better now!

These are very comfortable. However, after 3-4 days of wear, my lenses have been getting spots on them that will not come off no matter how much you rub them or clean them. It looks like an oily haze and makes seeing out of them nearly impossible. Was told the pair would last 2 weeks, they are barely making it a week. Overall am very unhappy with this lens. Would be much better if they made it in a daily disposable.

It became a chore to even wear them. When I got these contacts my life was much improved. I still have to use rewetting drops every couple of uses because of dry eyes but other than that these contacts are great!

I have worn glasses and even higher powered contact lenses to correct for my astigmatism because I couldn't stand a toric lens. But when my eye doctor quit carrying the brand I was wearing, they tried me on Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism and WOW!! wHAT A DIFFERENCE!! I don't have any problem with these and they are amazingly comfortable. The only trouble I have is that my lens wants to roll when I have it in my solution so it takes a minute to get it shaped right to put it in my eye. Otherwise, it's WONDERFUL!!!!

I recently changed from using Softlens66 which I found very comfortable and had no real problems with (apart from slight dryness) to Acuve Advance for Astigmatism because they're better for eye health. Initially the vision was good (about the same as Softlens66) and I liked that they moved with my eyes but found that I was very conscious of them sliding across my field of vision. They were much more noticeable on my eyes than the Softlens66 being significantly larger than my iris. However I was happy to live with this for the health of my eyes. After one day of wear...and I have since tried again... my eyes were extremely bloodhot and irritated and unfortunately I just cannot tolerate these lenses...so I'm back to the old ones!

For me, these contacts were the answer! Glasses give me pounding headaches so I wear my contacts from the morning till I go to bed. Sometimes I get into bed and forget they are even in! My vision is very good with them but they do shift easily. You have to watch when rubbing your eyes because that shifts them and they tear easily. If they were stronger...I couldn't imagine a better contact lens. For now...they are the answer for me!

I replace every two months cause my doctor told me they last for a long time, and i don't have any problems at all even though the recommended amount of time is two weeks. they still feel good to me so i wear them, haven't had a problem with them. :) They don't correct my astigmatism though.

I have had several brands of contacts over the years. Last year I was given Bausch & Lomb Soft Lense 66 torics and have had nothing but probelms with them. I couldn't them to suction to my eye or stay put when working or playing ball. They would also dry out. I have always had trouble with the dryness but This week I seen my dr. for the yearly exam and he told me about the Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism and I tried them. Last night I played ball (it was windy), today I worked at my computer all day with florescent lighting and I haven't had one bout of dryness. I also haven't had any problems getting them to stay put on my eye. When I insert them, it only takes one shot where before I would have to try, try, and try to get them to go in and not feel extremely inflamed. I used to hate to wear my contacts, now I don't want to take them out cause I can't even feel them. THe only reason I have to give up a little bit of vision correction, is becuase of the severity of my Astigmatism. It isnt bad, considering I can't even feel them.

I've been wearing contact lenses for about 10 years. I've always worn a toric in my left eye, and only just recently prescribed for my right eye too. I've been wearing these lenses for just a bit over 2 weeks and I LOVE them! They fit perfectly and NEVER move around my eye. My vision stays perfect for 15 hours. I don't experience any dryness or itching, and don't even know the lenses are there. However, they are extremely pricey. My insurance sucks so I'm going to have to look for something else once i run out of my measly 3 month supply. I'm thinking of trying the B&L Soflens 66. Anybody ever used those?

Compared to my old Cooper vision toric this lens does provide a very good fit and comfort, but the vision may vary depending on the time of the day and tiredness of the eyes. It also tends to move/turn more frequently.
